Ethiopia, it lies between the equator and tropic of capricorn at just over one million sq. km in size. In size it is as large as France and Spain combined, with a climate affected mainly by regions of lowlands, midlands and highlands. Most parts are on a plateau between 2100 - 4500 mtrs. Ethiopia enjoys a mild and cool climate year-round with the rainy season from June to September. One Stop Tourism suggests traveling to Ethiopia to see its best during the months of October to May.

Population - estimated to be approximately 65 million, with half under the age of 34.

Food - the national food of thiopia is “injera” (a flat nutritious bread) and “wot” (stew prepared with Ethiopian butter, spices, beef or chicken, vegetables and many other combinations).

Religion - the major religions are Islam and Christianity (Ethiopian Orthodox Church).

 

Languages - Amharic is the national language of the country, but there are another eighty-three with some 200 dialects. After Amharic the most common would be Orominya and Tigrinya. English, French and Arabic are widely spoken as well.

Government - Ethiopia is an independent republic operating under the constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. With the president serving as head of state, and the prime minister is the head of government.

Time - Ethiopia is three hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, and it remains constant with no change throughout the year.
