Lalibela-
It is described as a creation of the angles. Now preserved
as one of Unesco’s world heritage sites, Lalibela is
truly a treasure of the historic route. King Lalibela's strenuous
efforts for about twenty four years rewarded the town with
the marvelous relics of the eleven rock-hewn churches, and
the world with its eighth wonder.
Nearby, Lalibela also makes excursions to Asheton Mariam church
and Yemerhane Kirstos cave churches which date back 80 years
before the Lalibela churches. To reach Ashetonmariam church,
a mule trekk would be made high above the city of Lalibela;
Yemerhane Kirstos is accessible by a 4wheel drive with its
unique patterns, marvelous ceilings and woodwork to be seen.
